The Surface Warship Association was formed in 1994 by a group of like minded modellers with the idea of promoting the hobby of scale model warships.

The definition of a warship covers ships of all periods, types and nationalities which have served or are at present serving under the service flag of the country concerned.

Our membership is made up of retired servicemen, serving service personnel, professional people and tradesmen in fact people from all walks of life. Retired people feature strongly within our organisation. Any person whether a modeller or not but who has an interest in warships can join our organisation. The membership is not restricted to men only as we have women members who both sail and build their own models.

From our small beginning we have grown into an international organisation which is based in the United Kingdom.

To our members we offer a wide range of benefits which include discounts of up to 20% from both dealers and manufacturers of model boat kits and fittings. We also offer our members the use of our own databases for research purposes, we can put members in direct contact with university archive departments, local government archives and builders archive departments for further information regarding the model they are seeking. We can also put you in contact with other members who have built or are building the same model so that you are able to share experiences.

For members there is a quarterly magazine which contains Committee and Area Reps details, news, details on shows attended by members and technical information.

Details of Committee Members and Area Reps can also be obtained by clicking on the Directory button on the menu
